Ursuline College Track & Field opened their indoor season at The Golden Flash Gala hosted by Kent State University this past weekend. Holley Mangold set the tone for the day for the Arrows by throwing a provisional national qualifying mark (12.54 meters) in the shot put trials. Mangold followed this throw in the finals of the shot put with an automatic national qualifying mark of 12.85 meters or 42 feet 2 inches.
Including Holley's throw in the shot put, the Arrows were able to set 5 school records in their season opener. Mangold threw 9.71 meters (31'10.25") in the Weight Throw. Sophomore Jessica Dingman ran 2 minutes 28.85 seconds in the 800. Jaimie Grindle, competing in her first meet in over a year and a half, jumped 5 feet 1 inch in the High Jump. The final school record set on the day was by Jennette Goans in the Triple Jump (29'9.5").

Coach Badway had the following to say after the meet. "We went out to use this meet just to see where were before the holiday break, and we end up sending 1 to Nationals and setting 5 School Records. The young ladies on this team are committed to being part of winning program, and are working hard to get there. The success they achieved this weekend is because of the hard work that they put in this fall.”
The next time you will be able to catch the Arrows in competition will be January 16th at Oberlin College and January 17th at Kent State University.
