Ursuline College Cross Country took part in the All-Ohio Championships this past weekend. A unique competition as every college and university in the state competed against each other. Out of the 42 schools in the state, the Arrows finished in 32nd place, while running without one of their top runners, Tanisha Williams.
The event, which was hosted this year by Ohio Weslyan University, brought together a collection of the states top runners. The Ohio State University took top honors with five of its runners finishing in the top twenty.
“The course is always tough when the weather is perfect. However, it was pretty wet this year which made the course very soft,” described Head Coach David Grimlich. “Mud was not a major issue, but the soggy course slowed times a bit. On a scale of 1-10, and 10 being the toughest, this course is a 9.”
The Arrows finished with a team total time of 110:44 in the 5K run. Out of the 285 total runners competing, the Arrows had some decent performances led by junior Jessica Dingman (Chardon, Ohio/Berkshire High School), who finished in 91st place with a time of 20:46.
Junior Erin Childers (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio/Cuyahoga Falls High School) finished in the top 150 (148th overall) with her time of 21:48. Freshmen Sam Turner (Williamsfield, Ohio/Pymatuning Valley) and Katie Brobst (Hinckley, Ohio/High High School), along with junior Erica Casto (Madison, Ohio/Madison High School) all placed in the top 250. They placed 213th (23:00), 226th (23:21), 240th (23:43) respectively.
